This week we are going to be focusing on numbers!

2018 Miss Michelle´s English Blog : THE NUMBERS & THE LETTER U

Monday

Warm up - Today we are going to carry on counting! Ask your grown up's to shout out a number between 0-20. Can you carry on counting from this number? Keep going and see how far you can count! Can you reach 50? Or maybe 100?

Activity - Today we are going to explore the great outdoors! Today we are going to make numbers from natural resources! You could use sticks, leaves, rocks, pebbles or anything you can find! You could begin with 0 and see if you can go to 20 and beyond! Once you have made your numbers can you count how many objects you needed to make each one? Don't forget to take pictures of your super learning! See below for an example! Here is the number 10! I have used 6 sticks to make the number 10! Could you make the number 10 using 10 objects?

Warm up - Time to warm our brains up! We are going to sing one of our favourite number songs! Search on You tube for the big number song or click the link below! Make sure to sing all of the numbers. Big Number Song

Activity - Today you are going to explore your outdoor area or your local area whilst completing your exercise! Can you collect at least 20 leaves which are big enough for you to form the numbers 1-20 on! You could go beyond this to 30 or even 40 if you wanted an extra challenge! Once you have collected all of your leaves can you write the numbers 0-20 on them! Don't forget to use your number formation rhymes to help you! Once you have completed this can you place your numbers in order? Once you have ordered your numbers, your grown up's could take 1 or 2 numbers away. Can you write which numbers are missing in your learning book! You could even try hiding 3 numbers as an extra challenge!
Make sure to save your leaf numbers as you will need them tomorrow!

Activity - Today you will need the numbered leaves you made yesterday! As a recap can you quickly place them in order 0-20? Once you have done this your grown ups are going to flash you random numbers! You could start with numbers up to 10 to begin with. Once you have recognised your number you need to collect/find that amount of objects to match to your number! You could even attach pegs to your leaves, this would also develop those fine motor skills! Here is an example! You could collect 5 leaves or 5 stones!

Thursday

Warm up - Today we are going to sing the count to 100 song! Don't forget to get that body moving and to use your super counting skills to reach 100! Search on You Tube 'count to 100' or click on this link! Count to 100

Activity - Today we are going on a hunt! We have made a special hunt for you to take part in! You may need to go outside for some parts of the hunt! You could record your findings in your super learning book! You will need to use your looking eyes, counting and formation skills for this challenge!

Fun Friday!

It's Friday again Tigers and Monkeys our favourite day of the week! This week we would like you to practice your ball skills! We have practised throwing and catching at school in our PE sessions and we know how much you loved the tricky challenge of throwing and catching with smaller objects, such as a tennis ball!
You could begin throwing and catching with a large object like a football. If you can throw and catch this when you are close to your grown up you could take a step back! Once you are confident with this you could swap to a smaller object like a tennis ball! Challenge: Once you can throw and catch confidently with a small ball could you now try throwing and catching with one hand?
